Custom Lower Extremity Orthoses

Bracing to the foot, ankle, knee and/or hip which includes; Supra-Malleolar Orthosis (SMO), Ankle Orthosis (AO), Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO), Knee Orthosis (KO), Knee-Ankle Foot Orthosis (KAFO), Hip-Knee-Ankle Foot Orthosis (HKAFO), Reciprocating Gait Orthosis (RGO) and Serial Casting. Bracing requirements depend upon which joint (s) is affected or injured. Lower extremity braces can aid in mobility, functioning and transfers.

Allow individuals with lower extremity paralysis the ability to weight bear without collapse by aligning and locking the knee and hips in a straight position. This enables patients to stand with controlled balance providing the ability to walk with a swing-through or reciprocating gait pattern. Common medical conditions may include; Spina Bifida and spinal cord injury.

Involves the application of successive casts to increase soft tissue range of motion surrounding the contracted joint. This is a multiple cast process where casts are typically left on for 2-3 weeks, possibly leading to bracing afterwards. Common medical conditions may include; Cerebral Palsy, spinal cord injury and stroke.
